Dr. Gresham offered me a warm smile as I stepped onto the walkway where I knew he would be waiting. He knew I hated the stuffy environment of his little office, so anytime we had a session, it would always be outside. And if it was raining, we rescheduled for the next day.

“You look happier,” he noted. “I assume the medications are working a bit better?”

I nodded. “There were some . . . changes as well,” I informed him, a blush staining my cheeks.

“Oh? Let’s hear about them.”

My cheeks darkened even further. “Um, I’m kind of in a . . . relationship . . . with both Julian and Axel,” I explained.

“Well, that’s good that you three were able to work everything out.”

I didn’t think my cheeks could possibly get any redder, but they did. “They kind of walked me into it,” I explained. “It’s still a bit scary for me. I’m terrified that I’ll lose one of them at some point—or even both.” I drew in a deep breath. “They say it’s okay that I want both of them—that I um, need, both of them?” I said, though the last part came out as more of a question.

“Meghan, you went through something traumatic numerous times in your life,” Dr. Gresham told me. “Sometimes, people need more that just one person can offer, and that’s okay. There’s nothing wrong with that. All that matters at the end of each day is that the three of you are okay.”

“But this can’t be realistic in the long run, can it?” I asked him.

“It actually can.” Dr. Gresham said. “One of my other patients is actually in a relationship quite like yours. It wasn’t easy for her either, but the three of them have been together for almost four years now, and they’re perfectly happy and content.”

I pursed my lips. “Julian was always so . . . possessive. I don’t see how this will actually work out.”

“Julian has gone through his own changes,” Dr. Gresham informed me. I knew that, but it still confused me that he was okay with this. Because Julian’s possessiveness had been on a whole other level. “He probably hasn’t told you this, but he gave his psychologist permission to collaborate with me, which is why I finally decided that it was okay for you to go home with him. Julian loves you so much that he’s willing to do whatever is necessary to make sure that you’re taken care of.”

I sighed. “They’re letting me take this at my own pace.”

Dr. Gresham nodded in approval. “They’re good men, Meghan. They showed you that they both want you, that they’re both okay with sharing you. They’re not pushing you any further than that.”

I stayed quiet. Dr. Gresham took a seat on our normal bench, and I followed his lead, taking a seat next to him. My eyes locked on my rose bush. There was a new bud. I smiled. “It’s blooming,” I whispered.

Dr. Gresham nodded. “Everything blooms at its own rate, Meghan.
